Early Years Education |
The children give a step
further when they change from communicating with only few people in their
familiar nucleus to establishing affective and emotional links with other
adults and children. The effective field becomes wider considerably
, which help the children to socialise in a better way. Being with other children
and adults help the children to create new strategies of relationship with
others. Sharing, greeting, waiting patiently, tolerating their
frustrations, following the rules… are learning ways which make
the child adapt him/herself to the social environment. The children acquires
confidence when learning to do things by themselves: taking part in the
different activities or doing them on their own, washing themselves,
dressing up, preparing meals etc, increase their possibilities. The activities which are
planned by the members of staff as well as any other piece of work prepared
aim to increase their self-confidence and to improve their self-esteem, which
are two key-elements for the learning coming up. The pre-school is an
institution designed for the child to explore and investigate with its
material, spaces, activities and games to increase their knowledge about
themselves as well as that of the world surrounding them through experiences
and feelings. The aim of the activities
in a pre-school centre is to work on a series of basic skill for the
development of the intelligence. We work through observation, attention,
imitation and memory as well as on the reasoning and solving of problems
taking into account the level of development of the child. Given the close
relationship between motor apparatus and the psycho-activities
, the science of psycho-motricity uses the
movement to improve cognitive and affective aspects of the child. Games
related to psychomotricity are a
toddlers gymnastics activity full of fun which allow the child to
control his/her own body, to explore and get to know the world around them in
a better way. The pre-school is an
ideal place to stimulate the developing moment of the language. From the
moment of gurgling until the moment when they are able to use the expressive
and oral language the children find in games, tales, songs… moments to
exercise the language. Other means of expression and communication are worked
on in the same way: musical expression, body language, artistic
expression… |
